Welcome to my little world of Funky Bunny Designs. I create pieces of micro-crochet wearable art, conduct workshops teaching beginners basketry techniques while also selling fibre supplies to those who love texture.

Micro-crochet. My crochet work centres around reclaimed treasures of antique sea pottery and sea glass that I nestle in intricate crochet. I use crochet hooks less than 1mm and fine crochet thread. Some special pieces are made with SEWING thread and a 0.5mm hook! As a former History teacher, I cherish things from the past and through my art, explore the importance of keeping ties to it, especially as we delve deeper into the Age of Technology, mass production and mass waste. My whimsical one-of-a-kind pieces give these artefacts a chance to be loved and cherished once more.

Beginners Basketry Workshops. I started teaching beginners basketry coiling techniques in 2022. I loved witnessing the connections that people made during the classes so much that I also started a monthly social weaving circle, where people bring their own projects to work on while bonding over a common interest and endless cups of tea. I am enjoying the process of deepening my own practice in this area and I love exploring the diverse cultural techniques from around the world - there is so much to learn!

Supplies. I am slowly curating a selection of beautiful, high quality fibres such as raffia, hemp, linen, bamboo and nettle to sell for basketry, weaving, crochet and craft purposes. A new range of Funky Bunny Designs BEX (best) grade raffia is also being rolled out. I hand dye small batches of raffia using both synthetic and botanical dyes.

Exhibitions and Publications. I have been involved in a number of group art shows in the Tweed Shire and in Brisbane and had my first solo show ‘threads of time’ at ArtPost Uki. My micro-crochet work has featured in Marie Claire Magazine (Aus), Homespun Magazine and Crochet Guild Australia.

You can find me sitting in this comfortable chair in my shared studio|gallery ‘Bunny & Fig’ in the M|Arts Precinct in Murwillumbah from Wed to Friday 10am until 3pm and Saturdays from 10am until 2pm. I have shared this gorgeous space with the talented photographer Chelle Wallace since 2022.
